The Spirit of Christmas

The spirit of Christmas is often found
In things that we can see
A street of gold and silver
A sparkling Christmas tree.
Itís found in quiet serenity
Of freshly fallen snow
In lights upon the river
A candlesí gentle glow.

Itís found in pretty presents
And treasures of delight
In stories told of Christmasí past
On cold and wintry nights

Itís found in Yuletide carolers
Who stand out in the street
And spread good cheer and tidings
To everyone they meet.

Itís found in bustling cities
As choirs get up to sing
In sleepy little villages
Where lonely church bells ring.

Itís found within a beggarís heart
Who kindly takes the time
To help a cold and hungry child
By sharing his last dime.

Itís found within the prisons walls
And temples made of stone
Itís found within the orphanages
And in the nursing homes

Itís found within the wise men
Who brought gifts from far away
And the eastern star that led them
To the stable where He lay.

Itís found within the Spirit
This gift from up above
Itís filled with pure salvation
And wrapped in His sweet love.

Itís even found in old St. Nick
As he kneels down to pray
To Jesus, Blessed Redeemer
Who was born on Christmas day.

Marilyn Ferguson - 2002

This Christmas I thought I'd use some pictures from Laurie's first Christmas.
This was just about a week after we had found out about her heart defect and a week
before she went into heart failure.

We haven't celebrated any holidays since Laurie went to Heaven..She was our reason
for getting up in the morning, for breathing duriing the day, for going to bed at night,
our reason for living. Christmas time was her favorite time of the year. I can still
remember getting up early in the morning and making sure her presents were
all wrapped and under the tree so if she woke up early they'd be there. Life
seemed so much easier then

Candle lit for Laurie Stocking hung for Laurie

Thank everyone for the Christmas gifts on the next page.
